DUTIES
This position will instruct courses in a trimester program. The summer semester (May to August inclusive) is a required instructional term. One additional instructional term will be determined, with the third term to be a combination of vacation leave, professional development and department duties.
To develop and prepare lessons, instruct, assess and grade student achievement in the Human Resources Management specialist and generalist courses in the Faculty of Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
The faculty member should possess the requisite experience and expertise in teaching undergraduate and must be able to teach courses in the Human Resource Management area. See the on-line VIU course calendar at www.viu.ca/calendar/Business/index.asp for course descriptions and program information.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
A doctoral degree (or ABD) in Human Resources Management from an appropriately accredited institution; requisite recent experience and expertise in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses and must be able to teach courses in the Human Resource Management area; relevant applied professional experience in industry or business; record of engaging in scholarly activity (e.g. the Certified Human Resources Professional certificate); relevant professional memberships. Demonstrated competency at working effectively in a team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on teaching and student learning, and will be responsive to diverse learning styles, cultural and academic backgrounds.
Preferred
HRM certification (CHRP); International experience; relevant research presentations and publications; professional memberships; relevant applied certifications.
