Alumni Golf Discount
All VIU employees and alumni are now eligible for a $10 discount on green fees at Fairwinds Golf Club. Fairwinds will also contribute $10 from every green fee purchased by VIU employees and alumni to the Vancouver Island University Foundation “Adopt A Student Fund.” One guest is also eligible for the $10 discount. Alumni Privilege Card
VIU alumni can purchase an Alumni Privilege Card that has an annual fee of $10.
What discounts are available to holders of an Alumni Privilege Card?
Vancouver Island University Library
- Present your Alumni card to the Library Service Desk to receive a card and borrow library materials for free. Please note: Because of licensing agreements this does not entitle alumni access to most library e-resources, databases and/or computer programs. It does entitle alumni to take books out, renew books online and use the library catalogue.
Vancouver Island University Gymnasium
- Approximately 25% discount on regular rates on membership and squash courts. (Photo ID and Alumni Card required).
Vancouver Island University Theatre
- Present your card at the box office to get student rates.
Discovery Dining Room

Present your Alumni card and receive two-for-one desserts in the Discovery Room dining room with the purchase of lunch or dinner. Located on the Nanaimo campus, the Discovery Room is VIU's hidden jewel, featuring elegant dining, fine wines and panoramic views. Phone 250-740-6338 for reservations.
VIU Residences
- Receive a 10% discount on short-term summer accommodation with the presentation of your Alumni card at VIU's new Residence Village. VIU's residences offer economical short-term accommodation for groups or individuals from May to August. Check viuresidences.ca for details. Alumni status must be mentioned at time of booking. VIU Bookstore (Nanaimo Campus)
You'll receive special discount coupons for Alumni redeemable at the VIU Bookstore. The Bookstore carries art and stationery supplies, VIU clothing, gifts, general reading books and textbooks. Visit our new store in the Library building on the Nanaimo campus, or our locations at the Cowichan and Powell River campuses. Phone: 740-6200 in Nanaimo.
