Level To Advanced Jazz Musicians. July 5-9.

INSTRUMENTAL CLINICS
Clinicians deal with technique, sound, breath control, embouchure and Jazz Materials for the specific instruments. These classes are small; expect a fair amount of individual attention. Four one hour sessions each.

JAZZ IMPROV & ENSEMBLE WORKSHOPS
Content includes: playing, performing, and Jazz theory as applied to your instrument (scales and chords, “comping” rhythms and voicing). Critique recordings of Jazz greats. Students are grouped based on their level of experience. All ensembles meet for 3 hours per day and work towards performance in the Wrap Up Concert.

JAZZ MATERIALS WORKSHOPS
Workshops present general Jazz concepts that apply to all instruments. Students can expect some Jazz Harmony, Jazz Scales, Rhythmic ideas, lists of recommended recordings, a little Jazz History including some CD listening, all presented in a very friendly, relaxed environment by master Jazz performers/educators.

THE JAZZ SINGER
Joani Taylor introduces the vocalist to a choice of materials, sound and lyrics, and how to deliver an honest performance. Each singer will choose a song to work on, with class participation, and in one-onone sessions with Joani Taylor. Perform in the Wrap Up Concert.
