Research Programs
The CSR has taken a strategic approach to research program development. Institutional capabilities are matched with industry requirements - and limited research dollars are focused on the highest priority projects.
Ecological Interactions Research Program (EIRP)
Initial funding efforts were used to support the development of the Ecological Interactions Research Program to investigate sustainable shellfish practices. Peer-reviewed scientific publications arising from this research program will inform science-based public policy development – thereby leading to increased opportunities for the expansion and diversification of a sustainable shellfish industry.
Shellfish Health and Husbandry Research Program
The Shellfish Health and Husbandry Research Program will undertake research projects to resolve production related issues. The goal of the program is to improve productivity and economic viability resulting in increased profitability to drive new investment, expansion and diversification.
Socio-Economic Research
The CSR has collaborated with researchers from the social sciences and humanities on a number of key projects. Those projects have focused on ensuring the growth of the BC shellfish aquaculture industry is compatible with the social and cultural values of coastal communities.
