VIU Engineering Transfer Program

We offer 1 and 2 year engineering transfer programmes to UVic and UBC:

• For Electrical or Computer Engineering degree at UVic, complete the first two years at VIU and then transfer to reserved seats into 3rd year at UVic*
• For an engineering degree in any discipline (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, etc, including Electrical and Computer), complete the first year at VIU and then transfer to UBC or UVic

*Students must apply to VIU for their 2nd year of Engineering studies in this transfer program.  The application deadline is 31-Jan/2010.  Application and registration information can be found here.

Why did you choose VIU to begin your Engineering studies? 

I chose VIU because of its beautiful location which fortunately is closer to my home. I also wanted my first year to be a transitional step from high school to university and I am very pleased with my decision!

You intend to complete the 2nd year of the UVic Engineering program at VIU. What influenced your decision?

I've chosen to complete my second year Electrical Engineering at Mal because I felt very comfortable in the VIU environment and I think Mal has a lot of excellent profs. Of course the smaller class sizes and cheaper tuition are an added bonus!

How do you feel about being a female engineering student?

When someone asks what I'm studying most people seem surprised to hear me say engineering. I wasn't sure what kind of reactions I would get from my classmates or teachers being one of only three girls in the engineering program this year. I am happy to say that I am not treated differently just because I'm a girl and I feel like I fit right in with my classmates and professors.
