Centre for Canadian Education

The new VIU - Centre for Canadian Education, based in New Delhi, India, is the first overseas office for Vancouver Island University. This centre attempts to promote Canadian Education in India and provide all necessary support to Indian students wishing to pursue their studies at Vancouver Island University.

VIU-CCE has been officially inaugurated by Dr. Patrick Ross, Vancouver Island University Vice President of Student Services and Ms. Bronwyn Jenkins-Deas, Dean of International Education at Vancouver Island University. The Canadian High Commission Delegation led by Ghislain Chaput, Head of Public Affairs was the guest of Honor. The inauguration was also addressed by noted Indian Educator and former Chairman of CBSE (India’s National School Board) Professor B. P. Khandelwal and former Director from Concordia University Dr. T.D. Dewivdi.

The office is a centre for information about Vancouver Island University for the local Indian market, prospective students and parents, present and potential institutional partners and as well as VIU representatives and alumni. The office also provides information to the students about beautiful British Columbia, Vancouver Island and the Harbor City Nanaimo.

Services & Support

  • Assist prospective VIU Students with application and study permit process
  • Provide pre-departure information and orientation to students accepted to VIU through the VIU-CCE in India.
  • Provide orientation for students who come through agents
  • Organize alumni events and provide ongoing information about VIU to Indian alumni
  • Provide seminars for agents and support their recruitment initiatives
  • Participate in major educational fairs throughout India
  • Develop educational relations with Indian Schools and Universities.

Study Permit Screening Services

  • VIU CCE, will screen applicants and conduct personal interviews by phone or in person at the VIU CCE Office to verify application documents and ensure admissibility to VIU.
  • With the support of the Canadian High Commission, VIU CCE will verify and screen educational and other relevant visa documents of VIU applicants.
  • Once the Letter of Acceptance has been issued, the appropriate documents will be forwarded from VIU CCE to the Canadian High Commission directly as part of the study permit application. 
  • VIU CCE, will charge students and agents a nominal fee of INR 3,500 to cover personnel and courier costs.
