- ArtStor: online images, many of interest to anthropologists. (help)
- Bibliography of Native North Americans : covers all aspects of Native life. (tutorial; help)
- EconLit: good for economic aspects of international development. (tutorial; help)
- Geobase: provides good international coverage of the geographical literature, with much of interest to anthropologists. (help)
- JSTOR: provides the full text for many anthropology journals, many dating back to the 1800's. (tutorial; help)
- Population Index: demographic literature. Good international coverage. (help)
- PrimateLit: primatological literature (non human primates), with coverage from the 1940's. (help)
- Sociological Abstracts: anthropology and sociology are two disciplines very closely related. (tutorial; help)

Oxford Reference Online includes many titles of value to anthropologists. Good for checking definitions and quick facts.
- Illustrated Encyclopedia of Mankind: includes information on hundreds of peoples around the world. Available in the Nanaimo library Reference area at call number GN 307 I44 1994, vol. 1-22.
- Dictionary of Anthropology
- Encyclopedia of World Cultures: available in the Nanaimo and Powell River libraries' Reference area at call number GN 307 E53, vol. 1-11.
- International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences: very scholarly and is excellent for a detailed overview of a topic. Available in the Nanaimo library Reference area at call number H 41 I58 2001.

- Anthro.Net contains thousands of reviewed websites and references to books and articles.
- Anthropology Resources on the Internet from the American Anthropological Association.
- Indigenous Node of the WWW Virtual Library (Center for World Indigenous Studies).
- Anthropology in the News
- AnthroTech (part of the WWW Virtual Library) provides links to thousand of anthropology sites.
- Intute provides links to quality resources in all areas, including anthropology.
- Anthropology links from the Internet Public Library
- Alouette Canada: digital collections from Canadian archives, museums, etc. Primary sources.
- Collections Canada (National Library and Archives): "Canada's national collection of books, historical documents, government records, photos, maps, music, and more." Includes many primary sources.
- BC Archives does for BC what the National Library and Archives (above) does for Canada. Online availability is limited to historic photos: for other materials you must go in person to the Archives.
- civilization.ca: includes the the Canadian Museum of Civilization and more.
Books
- search the library catalogue for books and videos on your topic. If you have difficulty, ask for help.
- if you don't find enough books on your topic at Malaspina, be sure to search WorldCat and request items on interlibrary loan (a free service, but allow 2 weeks for delivery).
Citing Your Sources
- AAA Style Guide from the American Anthropological Association. Also available in print form in the Nanaimo library Reference area at call number GN 12 S89 2003.
- RefWorks: software that allows one to export references directly from a database and have them formatted in the style of your choice.
