The Mariner Volleyball teams went
undefeated this weekend. Coach Chris Densmore is pleased with
the start to the second half of the season. The Men's team
had a huge win over the COTR Avalanche on Saturday night.
A 3-2 win for the M's was the first loss of the season for
the Avalanche. This has helped to move the Mariners into the
#5 spot of the CCAA national rankings. This friday the M's
face island rivals the Camosun College Chargers. Both have
identical records of 6-5. Should be a great match !!
The womens team continue to dominate the league with two more
wins ...3-1 over OUC and 3-1 over COTR. This puts the M's

ALBERTA TOURNAMENT

returned from the Grant MacEwan Christmas Classic Tournament

25/11/03-
The Mariners men's team dropped a 3-0 set (17-25, 19-25, 18-25)
to Capilano but beat Langara 3-0
(25-16, 25-22, 25-19) Saturday in Vancouver.
Malaspina, with a 4-5 record is two points out of a playoff
spot but coach Chris Densmore notes there are some positives.
"Four-and-five is seventh spot but third through sixth
place is five-and-four,' he said.
"One solid weekend can jump us up to third sport."
Densmore said his team lacked good decision making against
Capilano though Jeff Barth had an awesome performance on a
sprained ankle for 1.5 sets.
Barth finished with 12 kills, four digs, one block and one
ace.
Trevor Rudniski led the M's against Langara with seven kills,
five blocks, three aces and a pair of digs.
"We didn't play great but being nagged with injuries,
we still got the job done," said Densmore.
The men's team will be in Alberta for tournament play over
the holidays while the women will host the top teams in the
country in late December.
