goalAfter a slow start Mariners totally took control of the game, Quest keeper was called on to make numerous quality saves to keep the game tied, VIU finally got a goal off a corner kick by Kate Flynn in the 69th minute, ball bounced off couple of players and went into the net " we had a lot of passion in our game and played some good soccer, I thought our forwards were real good, mid field players showed skill level required to have success at this level" defensively as a team we were real strong and didn't give away any quality chances. Aileen Holder was dominant and controlled the play in mid field. Hollis Roberts recorded the shutout in the net !!

VIU Mariners Mens Soccer Game:
away at Quest, Squamish
Tie game   1 - 1

menssThe Mariners came away with 1 point instead of the three they deserved. The Team worked hard pressuring Quest through out the first half. Chris Arnett scored at the 20 min mark on a nice setup by Jared Stephens.  Arnett hit the ball well from the top of the box and the keeper had no chance of stopping. The team continued to play hard with Ben Leggett doing a great job of shutting down any attack Quest could build up.

The 2nd half was a lot like the first with VIU carrying a lot of the play and unfortunately not finding the back of the net. We had the lead but we started to push forward too much for a second goal, we need to keep our shape and composer while in the lead. Quest was able to take advantage and sprung free on a breakaway, Robbie Cochrane made a strong effort to make a stop but got a piece of the player and quest was awarded a P.K. which they converted. Mariners now at 1-1 started to really press for the last few minutes but could not finish their chances. Ben Leggett was the man of the Match leading the team from the back.
