Challenge answered on the road for men's basketball. Playing in Kelowna the Mariners came out composed and ready to go Friday night in a hostile environment. The M's were able to build a 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter on route to a 68-44 point victory. Defense was the key to victory without a doubt. Another solid balanced attack for the M's.
Saturday the game would be much tighter as the Lakers were more than ready to meet the challenge. Back and forth with the Mariners building a 10 point lead at the half. The Lakers would chip away and get the game to 6 before the Mariners bounce back and build a 19 point lead. 69-56 final and two big road wins. Jacob Thom had a great game with 17 points and 9 boards. Joel Bron and Fraser Thompson were solid up front all weekend for the M's.
Comments: I thought we were solid defensively this weekend, but at the same time they really struggled shooting the ball. I thought there were aspects of our game that were exposed this weekend and we will look to correct them in the coming weeks. Not pretty wins, but on the road against a solid team we will take them.
