26/10/09 - DISAPPOINTING FINISH FOR GOLF
The final golf tournament of the year hosted at UBC-O in Kelowna saw the VIU Mariners placed 6th , matching their placing for the year.
Top individual for VIU was TYSON LEMON placing 12th .... Maybe next year guys !!

28/09/09 - GOLF TEAM PLACES FOURTH!!
A fourth place finish in Victoria is an improvement on the previous weeks 6th place finish ...... heading in the right direction. VIU's best player was Tyson Lemon shooting 73, 72 placing third overall . Tyson has improved by 15 shots over last year at this time.
Dustin England won the long drive competition on day 1 !! 
This weekend off to Kamloops where TRU will host the third BCCAA tournament of the year.

21/09/09 - GOLF TEAM STRUGGLES ON DAY TWO
A great first day had the VIU Mariner Golf team shooting 305 and only three strokes out of first. Tyson Lemon was tied for second in the individual shooting 72. Then came day two and VIU shot 329 and finished 6th at the first BCCAA golf tournament of the year hosted by Selkirk College in Castlegar. Tyson Lemon fell to 10th overall with a 72 followed by a 81.

14/09/09 - GOLFERS SELECTED
The 2009 VIU Golf team has been selected !!
Representing VIU Mariners this year will be Kristian Hrabowych, Alex Wickett, Tyson Lemon, Josh Logan, Dustin England, Ryan Hopson. 5 of these players are returning players and Ryan Hopson is the newcomer. The team competes in Castlegar this weekend in the first BCCAA golf event of the year, hosted by Selkirk College. GOOD LUCK !!.

18/08/09 - FORMER MARINER WINS NANAIMO AMATEUR
Yes, another former Mariner has won the Nanaimo Men's Amateur Golf title. Brodie Williams won the 35th Annual Nanaimo Amateur on August 8th by 2 strokes. Congratulations !!! He headed into the final day with 6 stoke lead.

Christian Hrabowych and Mark Kitts are two other former Mariners that have won this event.

17/10/08 - GOLFERS PLACE 5th at NATIONALS
In a field of twelve teams the Mariners played some great golf and placed 5th. Top Mariner golfer and winner of the chipping contest was Kristian Hrabowych placing T-11th with a three day total of 227 and right behind him was team mate Kyle Hewitt in 12th and Tyson Lemon in 13th. 06/10/08 - PROVINCIAL BRONZE FOR GOLF
The fourth and final BCCAA golf tournament of the year was played at the Chilliwack Golf Club October 4-5th. . The team placed 4th in the tournament which was enough to hold onto 3rd in the overall standings for the season. Josh logan shot a 69-75 to tie for tenth and overall for the season wins a bronze medal in the individual category, one shot back of silver. 01/10/08 - JOSH LOGAN BCCAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Logan placed first overall last weekend , shooting a 67 on day two. Josh has been recognized by the league by receiving Athlete of the week honors ..

08/10/08 - GOLF TEAM WINS BRONZE!!

The team placed 4th in the tournament which was enough to hold onto 3rd in the overall standings for the season. 28/09/08 - GOLFERS TAKE FIRST PLACE!!
The golf team had its best outing of the year. Winning the team event by 10 strokes and taking 1st place overall in the individual. Josh Logan a freshman on the Mariner golf team, shot a 72-67 (139) placing him first overall in the 3rd BCCAA Golf tournament of the year hosted by Kwantlen . Kris Hrabowych and Kyle Hewitt both shot 145 with Tyson Lemon not far off with a 148. The final BCCAA Tournament goes this weekend in the Fraser Valley. 24/09/08 - GOLFERS SETTLE FOR THIRD
On home course the VIU golf team managed to place third, 21 strokes behind first place team TRU. Kristian Hrabowych remains only 3 strokes behind the league leader in the individual overall standings , Josh Logan is 3 strokes behind Kristian. Two more tournaments remain in the season before they depart for the National Championships in PEI. Individual standings (pdf)

12/09/08 - FIRST OVERALL
Kristian Hrabowych (photo below) placed 1st overall at the BCCAA Golf tournament held in Selkirk this past weekend. He scored a two day 142 (72,70) two strokes better than the second place golfer from TRU. Individual scores
This is the 1st of 4 league tournaments with the Nationals played in Prince Edward Island Oct 14-17.There has been considerable growth in BCCAA golf this year with three teams joining the league. TRU, UBC-O and Capilano are in the mix and will be competing this weekend at the Nanaimo Golf Club. Play goes Sept 20-21.The Mariners hope to capitalize on the home course advantage and improve on their 3rd overall placing in Selkirk.

12/08/08 - A great preseason result for the VIU Mariner Golf team !!
Nanaimo Golf Club Hosted its Annual Men’s Amateur Event this past weekend, and Three Members of the VIU Golf Team participated in the event. Kristian Hrabowych (2nd year player) shot 219 (73-72-74) to win the overall title by one shot. Kristian takes the title from former Mariner Mark Kitts who had won the event for the previous two years. Finishing in 5th place alone was Mariner, Kyle Hewitt. Kyle shot rounds of 76-74-75 to finish at 225. Also new Mariner Tyson Lemon shot rounds of 72-81-75 to finish in a tie for tenth place. In all 208 players started this event and Mariner golf placed 3 players in the top ten.

15/10/07 - GOLF TEAM SIXTH AT NATIONALS
Ian Robinson shot a 80-79-77 for a three day total of 236 leading the Mariner team to a sixth place finish.Event Photos.

01/10/07 - KYLE HEWITT wins overall
A 76-72 won the tournament for Kyle Hewitt of the VIU Golf Team. In dramatic fashion Kyle chipped in for birdie on the last hole to separate himself from three players tied with 149. Complete results
The team departs next week for the 2007 CCAA National Championships in Selkirk.

17/09/07 - GOLF PLACES SECOND !!
The Mariners placed second at the 1st BCCAA Golf tournament of the year held in Surrey.
With a 4 player total of 299 on Day 1 and 320 in Day 2.
Kyle and Kristian were the leaders through day one and so were the Mariners in the team event.
