30 years of coaching experience ranging from Mid-Isle Youth and Ladies Premier League teams, Men’s Div one VISL teams to Metro & Selects All-star, BC Summer Games, Inter-Provincial League and European touring teams.

JAMES MERRIMAN

James is just coming off a season in the PASL (Professional Arena Soccer League) for the Colorado lightning, also a Head coach at Colorado Storm Soccer.

James attended the University Of Denver on a Full athletic scholarship he was apart of the DU soccer program with All conference Honors and a 4 year Letter Winner. He Graduated with a Business Administration Degree. Played one season in the PDL for the Colorado Rapid Reserves of the MLS.
He grew up playing here on the Island for Victoria United of the PCSL and Nanaimo United of the VISL. Spent his youth playing in the BC All-star programs as well as the Canadian National Pool.
As James is just starting his coaching days he has coached various camps for Pacific Sport of the Canadian Sport Centre, Assistant at Woodlands Secondary Soccer Program, Assistant Coach at the DDC District Development Centre, Island Keeper Clinics, Assistant Head coach Merriman Soccer Camps.

James has enjoyed preseason training and is very happy with the efforts from the VIU players. He is trying to raise the expectations of what we want from our players coming into the pre season.
