Department of Recreation and Tourism
On behalf of the department and the institution, we would like to thank you for your interest in VIU's Recreation and Tourism Programs.
Our department, being one of the largest faculty in Canada, offers not only a diverse and strong academic program, but also opportunities for students to go beyond the classroom and transfer their knowledge to the field of Recreation and Tourism. Working with our experienced and dedicated faculty, our students can participate in active research projects, conferences, community initiatives, special event planning and international projects.
We are also privileged to have received a commitment from the Provincial Government for 1.25 million for the creation of a Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Rural Development. The B.C. Regional Innovation Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Rural Development will enable an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to the issues and challenges facing communities in developing tourism
