Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree, Major in Recreation
Vancouver Island University offers a Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree, combined Major in Recreation. The program consists of four academic semesters and two semesters of paid co-operative education work experience, or the option of one internship. This is based on an incoming student having successfully completed a diploma in Recreation, Tourism or a related field.
The degree will provide applied skills and concepts related to the provision of leisure management in the fields of Recreation Management and Tourism Management. The degree builds on existing diploma programs in Recreation and Sport Management, Tourism Studies and Hospitality Management which stress career-entry skills. The degree will focus on the development of management and entrepreneurial skills needed for people wishing to assume greater responsibilities within an organization, or for those wishing to start new enterprises.
Graduates of this degree program will be well equipped with the necessary management and entrepreneurial skills for today’s exciting tourism industries. Students completing this program will build on their existing skills to develop high-level management abilities.
