"Nurturing Your Research Career": How do you even do research at a small college? What are realistic goals? And how do you even begin to reach them?
Jo VanEvery will speak about a way of thinking about research that will help you nurture your ideas, develop projects, disseminate your research in appropriate ways, and find funding to support your research. There will be time for questions. Jo VanEvery helps academics with research grants and other career issues, using her experience as both an academic and a program officer. for SSHRC.

Roisin Mulligan, VIU Research Facilitator, will provide advice on building a CV that will help get your grant funded. Roisin will discuss SSHRC and NSERC CVs, in particular.

Research Ethics at VIU: Processes and Expectations
Lars Apland, VIU Research Ethics Officer, will provide a short presentation on the processes involved in ethics approval for research involving human participants. His talk will focus on research ethics review procedures, types of review, timelines, expectations of the Research Ethics Board, and what you can expect in terms of the review of your application.
