Sustainability, it starts with you!

With over 19 000 students, staff and faculty attending Vancouver Island University campuses, our environmental impact is huge.

Environmental Sustainability starts with each of us. Protecting our environment is critical to our success and will be an important consideration when decisions are made and activities take place at Vancouver Island University.
As leaders in teaching, learning and research, all of us at Vancouver Island University have a responsibility to lead by example. Some of the areas where our students, employees and decision makers can collectively make a difference include:

  • Joining the VIU Employee Ride-Share
  • Becoming aware and educating ourselves
  • Waste Reduction and Recycling
  • Energy and Water Conservation
  • Green Building and Caretaking
  • Grounds Management
  • Promoting and using Alternative Transportation
  • Creating opportunities to share ideas

We encourage you to incorporate some of the sustainability tips into your daily routine to lessen your impact, and save money at the same time!
