IT Services Advisory
Information on upcoming service outages and unexpected service disruptions will be posted under the IT Services (ITS) Advisory section of the main Technology web page. This Advisory will be updated by the IT Helpdesk during normal business hours.
There are two types of messages that can be posted as an ITS Advisory:
Network Status
Used to report unscheduled interruptions in service that affect a number of users. These interruptions in service are expected to last at least 15 minutes. The Green Network Status Alert box will turn Red whenever there is a reported problem posted. Click on the Network Status link for more information about the service interruption.
Network Status messages could encompass such service disruptions as:
- Email Outages
- Internet Availability
- Network Connectivity
- Printing Systems
- Access to Information Systems such as SRS (Student Records System) or FRS (Financial Records System)
Service Notice
Used to inform users of upcoming planned service disruptions, or to explain past service disruptions that were not posted as Network Status messages. This can occur if the outage was less than 15 minutes, or if the network outage impaired the Helpdesk's ability to update the IT Services Advisory. The Green Service Notice Alert box will turn Red whenever there is a Service Notice posted. Click on the Service Notice link for more information about the service interruption.
Service Notice messages can be posted for any planned service disruption that will affect a number of users, such as:
- Students
- Faculty, staff and students
- a couple floors in a building
- a whole building
- the lower campups
- the whole campus
