Adobe Acrobat Professional
Adobe Acrobat Professional is available on the Media stations in the Malaspina Commons.
This software lets you create and edit PDF (Portable Document Format) files that can be viewed with Adobe Reader (a free program downloadable from the Adobe site at http://get.adobe.com/reader/). The Portable Document Format allows you publish documents online as they appear in print. PDF documents can be secured in various ways, e.g. password protection, copy restriction, etc.
To convert documents created in other applications (e.g. Word, Publisher, Photoshop or Illustrator):
- Open the document in its native application (e.g. open a Word document in Word.
- Go to the File menu and click on Print.
- In the Print dialogue box, choose "Adobe PDF" from the list of printer names and click OK.
- Specify a file name and save location for the PDF file (by default, the PDF file will have the same name and location as the original document - though with a new extension, *.pdf..)
Word has an Acrobat toolbar that you can also use to convert a Word document to a PDF file - this is simply a more convenient way to do the same thing described above.
