What is MELL?

MELL is the acronym for the Microsoft® ELearning Library. The MELL is a collection of web accessible interactive tutorials produced by Microsoft® for the entire Microsoft® Office suite of programs:

Excel®
PowerPoint®
FrontPage®
Access
Outlook®

Vancouver Island University currently has the MELL for Microsoft® Office 2000,Office XP and Office 2003 available for use. Please read the instructions in the "Accessing MELL" area below and click on the appropriate link for the version of the MELL that you wish to access.

Accessing MELL

To access the MELL tutorials with Windows NT/2000:

  1. Click on the MELL links at the bottom of this page.
  • provide your Domain, Username, and Password in the following format (if you are faculty your domain is CAPITAN; a student's is DISCOVERY):

    Windows 2000 login

To access the Mell Tutorials with Windows XP:

  1. Click on the MELL links at the bottom of this page.
  • provide your Domain, Username, and Password in the following format:

    USERNAME: domain\yourusername
    PASSWORD: yourpassword
  • (if you are faculty your domain is CAPITAN; a student's is DISCOVERY):
